What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Pharmacy Technician for Home Infusion Pharmacy position at OSF HealthCare?
PRN need; schedule will be as needed in the pharmacy to assist with coverage of when pharmacy techs are taking time off/out sick
Expected pay for this position is between $18.43-$21.68. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
When scheduled to work this will be a day shift working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday; May be required to assist with on call needs for Weekends and Holidays, approximately every 6-8 weeks.
This position will be working within Home Infusion Pharmacy of OSF HealthCare in Peoria.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Pharmacy Technician for Home Infusion Pharmacy assists pharmacists in ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely dispensed, delivered, charged and credited. Prepares and labels medications to match orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges. This position requires the Technician to be proficient in both dispensing oral medications and in preparation of I.V. solutions. Duties may vary by assigned area or shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Work involves standing, lifting and walking continually while in the process of performing duties. Continually standing or continually walking/traversing at least 200 yards. Lifts/moves/carries objects up to 60 pounds on a continual basis. Continually reaching and lifting 30 pounds forward and above shoulder.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School/GED
Licenses/Certifications: Pharmacy Technician in Illinois or Michigan (dependent on location of employment).
Pharmacy Technician Certification validated by PTCB or National Healthcareer certification (ExCPT).
PHTC2 - Pharmacy Tech Certification (tracked by HR)
Experience: At least 18 years of age
Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 1 year pharmacy
Demonstrates knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology.
Other requirements/information: Demonstrates ability to perform and apply arithmetic calculations. Intermediate computer skills.
