Pay range for this position is $30.36 - $45.38/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure.
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse, St. Jude Clinic Manager, and according to department policies and procedures, provides professional nursing care to Pediatric and Adult patients. This includes evaluating patients' need for medical care, scheduling patient appointments based on urgency of patients' medical needs, reviewing patients' charts and test results, and referring patients to various social agencies, as necessary. Provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients newborn through life.
Qualifications
The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age and disease of the patients served at the clinic.
This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of 2 years training at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Current State license as a Registered Nurse required.
Successful completion of Certified Pediatric Oncology Exam.
Approximately 3 to 6 months on the job experience necessary in order to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of Clinic policies, procedures and protocols.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact with patients, families and physicians, and to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity necessary to elicit patients' cooperation and allay apprehensions.
Analytical skills necessary in order to gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data relevant to relatively complex patient care problems.
Demonstrates highly specialized clinical competence in the care of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients, including but not limited to administration of chemotherapy agents, blood products, etc.
