This internship will pay $17.00/hour. This is a hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: This internship position is to work with a diverse, multifaceted team to establish a comprehensive and effective Central Illinois Sports Medicine Program that monitors athlete’s physiological, biomechanical and psychological health to promote safe participation, improve physical and mental performance, and prevent physical injuries in youth and adult populations.

Responsibilities

The primary duties of this position are in support of testing, data collection and data management of sport psychology, exercise physiology and/or biomechanics data that includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

• coordinate subject recruitment, administer IRB consent process, work with fellow faculty to coordinate laboratory
  
  

scheduling for data collections; and,

• assist in data collection of all sport science assessments, data aggregation and management of that data into a
  
  

database.

Specifically;

• Demonstrates expertise and independent use and ability to administer motion capture equipment, software and post
  
  

processing methodologies for biomechanical assessments.

• Demonstrates expertise and independent use and ability to administer biodex and EMG methodologies.
• Demonstrates expertise and independent use and ability to administer physiological assessments including DEXA, VO2
  
  

analyzer, EKG, lactate threshold and resting metabolic rate.

• Demonstrates expertise and independent use and ability to administer psychological well-being and mental
  
  

performance assessments...

• Works professionally, independently and in collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and academic partners.
• Routinely updates the project management to complete production directives, collaborate with peers, and document
  
  

progress on projects.

• Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related
  
  

material, and by attending seminars, conferences and scholarly review.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Junior or Senior in college. This intern must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with various individuals throughout OSF Healthcare. Ability to multi-task, coordinate multiple projects, and have proven attention to detail.
