The Core Duties:
- With the support of the camp counselor, Jr Camp Counselors will help supervise an assigned group of campers during the camp day to ensure the safety and well-being of each camper
- Be a role model to campers and staff by maintaining a positive attitude when interacting with campers, other staff, and camp families and set a good example in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship
- Lead and co-lead a variety of value-based camp activities for your camper group, including but not limited to: arts and crafts, sports, stem projects, water play and swimming, classic camp games, and team building
- Participate enthusiastically and lead your group in elements of Chavurah (morning song session), L’hitraot (afternoon song session and gratitude), and Shabbat
- 16 Years of age
- Experience working with youth in a camp or other recreational setting
- Maintain a positive attitude in complex situations after working long hours
- Adjust quickly to changes with open mind and flexibility
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations
- Ability to meaningfully engage with all age levels
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (both written and oral)
- Ability to make sound independent judgment and decisions when circumstances arise
- Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working with children
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse group that includes OFJCC staff, parents, children and the public
- Certified in CPR for Children and Adults (or ability to obtain certification upon employment)
