Assembler 2 (2nd Shift)

OSI Laserdiode, a division of OSI Optoelectronics has an opening for an Assembler 2. This individual will wire, solder, and assemble microscopic components to make subassemblies or assemblies for laser systems and fiber optic products. They will also test the product to see if it meets specification in accordance with the customer specification sheet, established procedures and/or specific instructions. The shift hours will be 2:00pm to 10:30am (ET). Training will take place on 1st shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm (ET) for approximately 4 weeks. 

• Fill out production travelers in real time, listing all relevant information, ie: lots, dates, operator.
• Follow established procedures, verify all equipment is calibrated and ESD tables are up to date.
• Perform all visual inspections related to the product being manufactured.
• Assist in training of lower-level assemblers in proper procedures and techniques.
• Assembly of all package / laser types on a header / package level using the specified solders and schemes; assisting in building engineering prototypes.
• Training to perform wiring of optical components using wire bonding equipment.
• Inspection of optical components using stereo zoom microscopes.

• Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. 
• 1 years of related experience in a manufacturing and production environment required. 
• Must have ability to assemble and inspect fiber optic components.
• Excellent hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity is necessary. 
• Basic knowledge and use of Excel for data entry necessary.
• Must be able to handle chemicals appropriately. 
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in the business language (English).
