What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Discharge Representative position at OSMC?
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, reliable, good sense of judgment with positive attitude who can work independently and as a team member and organize/prioritize tasks effectively. With each patient departure this individual must scan patient records into our internal electronic health record system. The essential functions of job are ensuring courteous and friendly, greeting of patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner. Efficiently scheduling appointments in a courteous and helpful manner by telephone or in the office with the patient present. Verifying and updating the patient’s necessary patient information as well as accurately scheduling patients’ follow-ups in the physician’s profiles and hospital scheduling procedures as well as handling reschedules, or canceled appointments as directed by physicians, nurses or patient request and relays necessary information to the appropriate staff. Attention to detail is a must, as this position is tasked with managing, and working with pre-cert staff orders for injections, and rehab appointments, diagnostic orders to Diagnostic Scheduler to be pre-certed and scheduled. Working till the department is closed at the end of business locking up the discharge area daily. Knowledge of Nextgen Software is a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
