In this role, you will be involved in the design, development, test, release, and support of mechanical components worldwide. Our goal is to provide reliable, secure, elevator functionality that provides value to our internal and external customers. Otis Elevator is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer who will provide support for a variety of elevator components and mechanical systems. The position will play a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while working to meet agreed upon cost and schedule commitments. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Contribute to technical efforts within product development teams, understand and establish interfaces with design/analysis, testing and manufacturing. Support the evaluation of mechanical issues and turn-backs. Contribute to the analysis and corrective actions that are develop and implemented. Support and contribute to innovation efforts for new technologies, concepts, and products. Ensure that Otis products and processes are in line with the EH&S mandates and principles of quality, reliability, and robust design. Location: Farmington, Connecticut Reports to: Sr. Manager, Mechanical Engineering THE PERSON The candidate should be able to interpret mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to analyze complex problems and identify root cause and develop innovative solutions. The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively working on cross-functional teams to work closely with international suppliers, supply management, finance, and field support to ensure designs are compatible with requirements from across the organization. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Critical thinker with ability to systematically approach and solve problems. Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, agile thinker, who excels at working collaboratively in a team environment Highly effective communicator PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree Creo / Pro Engineer Mechanical structural analysis with Ansys or other FEA Software Familiarity with various manufacturing processes Hands-on testing experience preferred but not required Design documentation with Mathcad Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software COMPENSATION To attract the right individual, Otis is prepared to offer a competitive compensation package.
