What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at OTR Engineered Solutions?
Under minimal supervision perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of location’s business goals and objections. Maintain and improve facilities while being part of the OTR Team. Follow all site health and safety regulations and a strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.
Essential Functions:
1. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production and plant facility’s equipment.
2. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
3. Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
4. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
5. Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, test, and makes adjustments.
6. Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
7. Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
8. Complete preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures.
9. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
10. Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and unusual situations to proper supervision.
11. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
12. If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties.
13. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Required Skills / Abilities:
1. Minimum of six months previous mechanic experience preferred
2. High school diploma or equivalent; certification or diploma in mechanics or relevant discipline is a plus.
3. Must be 18 years of age

5. Able to physically stand, bend squat, and lift minimum of 50 pounds
6. Excellent attendance
7. Forklift Certification with 90 days of job entry

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a manufacturing environment. At times, the employee will be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.
Physical Demands:
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to squat. Must be able to bend at the knees, and flexible enough to work in awkward positions.
2. Must be able to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time.
3. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
4. Must be able tolerate fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
5. Must be able to work with hands and have the manual dexterity to use misc. hand tools (i.e. hammer, screwdriver etc.).
6. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
7. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
8. This position requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs., and stand for long periods of time
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Will also require some weekend work.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience and/or education.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. High School diploma or higher
2. Manufacturing experience
3. Certification or diploma in mechanics or relevant discipline.
