Our House Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides residential and day program services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization is searching for an LPN or RN with excellent interpersonal skills that enjoys administrative tasks and working in a rewarding field to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Previous experience working in the I/DD field is highly recommended and current nursing certification is required.

Position Summary
The Program Nurse is responsible for the consultation and oversight of overall health for persons receiving services through the Residential and Day Programs. The Program Nurse is a representative of Our House Inc. and is expected to professionally represent the organization’s mission and purpose.
Responsibilities
- Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the medical needs of persons receiving services (PRS) are met and that overall health care is done in a responsible manner.
- Consult with staff and administration regarding PRS medical needs; develop strategies for improving PRS specific health needs.
- Adhere to professional standards, as well as state and local requirements.
- Participate in quarterly home visits to all PRS homes; can be more frequent if PRS is determined to have higher medical needs and would benefit from more frequent visits.
- Develop protocols for PRS in accordance with state rules, regulations and statutes; review and update annually or as needed.
- Monthly review of data collected for protocols if needed.
- Review medical appointments for PRS as they occur and perform medical audit to ensure routine and follow up appointments are being completed in accordance with state rules, regulations and statutes.
- Assist with intake and information gathering of new PRS, including enrollment meetings, as necessary.
- Ensure medications are in order for service delivery.
- Attend meetings, medical appointments, and home visits, as needed.
- Be willing and able to assist with the implementation of the plan of care within the PRS’ daily activities and service plan.
- Contact medical professionals to request documentation and/or relay information regarding a PRS health/medical needs.
- Configure medication administration records for initial and ongoing use, review regularly for compliance.
- Enter all medications changes and scan doctor’s orders using agency approved software documentation.
- Complete annual PMIPs and/or medical assessments for PRS.
- Provide medical trainings as needed, i.e. QMAP, G-Tube, infection control, seizure management, etc.
- Promote community awareness of the abilities of the individuals with disabilities while maintaining reasonable confidentiality.
- Respect the rights of the PRS; maintain standards where rights are modified and provide appropriate reports, as necessary.
- Additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Current RN/LPN license.
- Must take drug screen and pass.
- Must be willing to take and pass background checks.
- Must be in good physical, mental and emotional health.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs; if required.
- Must have valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must have a vehicle in good working order with insurance and registration.
- Must have current CPR certification.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
Qualifications
- Experience working with or advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Previous knowledge of Colorado I/DD rules and regulations and medication administration preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control, acute/critical care, and health promotion and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Must be able to create and maintain a safe and effective environment, using best judgment.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; genuine and compassionate towards people.
- Able to interact successfully with a diverse group of people.
Salaried - Monday to Friday - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Pay: $58,000 - $62,000 Annually
