Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School-South Campus is seeking an outstanding, energetic, dedicated and talented individual to fill a kindergarten position for the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will be faith-filled, dynamic, compassionate and willing to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School is a PK-12 Catholic school in St. Joseph, Michigan. Please note that this position is at the South Campus, where grades Preschool-5th Grade are located. JOB SUMMARYA Catholic Elementary School Teacher is responsible for fostering a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The teacher will integrate Catholic values into all aspects of education, maintain high academic standards, and uphold the mission and vision of the school in alignment with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Faith Formation and Integration:
- Model and promote Catholic values in all interactions.
- Incorporate faith-based principles into lessons and activities.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive environment reflecting Catholic teachings.
- Participate in liturgies, prayer services, and religious celebrations.
Instructional Excellence:
- Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum, and Diocese standards.
- Use diverse teaching strategies, including differentiated instruction.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning.
- Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences.
Student Development:
- Support students' spiritual, academic, and social-emotional growth.
- Maintain high expectations for behavior and achievement.
- Assess student progress with formative and summative assessments.
- Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues about performance.
Community Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Support school events, activities, and service projects.
- Model faith, service, and academic excellence for the school community.
Professional Growth:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current.
- Reflect on teaching and seek feedback for improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop strategies that support student success.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or the ability to obtain within three years
- Valid teaching credential or certification appropriate for elementary education or the ability to obtain within three years.
- Chistian beliefs and support of Catholic teachings.
- Experience teaching in a classroom setting.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
CONTRACT, BENEFITS, COMPENSATION
Contract begins August 15. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
