The Cashier position plays a vital role within Outdoor Environmets, Inc. This person represents OEI on the phone and through face-to-face interactions with customers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a passion for customer service and plants.
Job Type: Part-time – 20-30 hrs. *Potential for up to 40 in the busy season
Qualifications:
- Retail customer service background with point-of-sale experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive and welcoming demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping customers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Greeting customers and providing assistance or direction
- Answering phone
- Process customer transactions utilizing point of sale program
- Maintaining front sales area including cleaning, merchandising, pricing, stocking, and other general store support as needed.
- Assisting customers in loading purchases as needed.
General Store Support
- Assist with general sales/office tasks as needed.
- Assist in maintaining store cleanliness, including sweeping, dusting shelves, emptying trash, and cleaning bathroom and breakroom.
- Assist with product labeling/pricing, merchandising, and stocking of products.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, and perform light / moderate physical work (e.g., stocking shelves, organizing inventory, assisting customers with loading as needed)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50lbs (e.g., boxes, bags of soil, plants)
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced retail environment with indoor and outdoor tasks in all weather conditions.
