What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier position at Overland Park Garden Center?
Position: Cashier
Basic Functions: our cashiers will be engaging and offer thorough customer experience to our shoppers. They will ensure that customers are promptly tended to at the check out area, their transactions are thorough and accurate, and that the customers experience has ended above satisfactory level.
General Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accurate cash levels in the drawers.
2. Efficient in cash handling.
3. A people person. Able to engage with customers needing assistance and/ or able to answer the phones and to promptly direct customers to the desired area of expertise.
4. Detail oriented.
5. Able to stand on your feet for at least 8 hours with minimal breaks.
6. Willing to clean, sweep, organize, and pay attention to the upcoming needs of the retail space (including stocking, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, cutting papers etc).
7. Able to work in all weather types and potentially the extremes; wet and cold, or hot and dry.
8. Comfortable around a high paced setting involving many people, and in a team type situation.
9. Comfortable working with computers and technology based devices.
10. Willingness to be coached in order to excel in one's position.
11. Willingness to learn about our products we offer to our customers.
12. Willingness to move around and to fill in any other areas where team member support is needed, and as directed by leadership.
13. Able to repeatedly lift 25 pounds and on some occasion lift 50 pounds.
This is not a leadership role.
