The Speech Pathologist functions as a member of the healthcare team. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides medically prescribed therapy programs with limited supervision in accordance with national standards and administrative guidelines of the hospital.

• Evaluation of patient performance and progress
• Treatment of patients
• Communication of evaluation and treatment results
• Documentation of evaluation and treatment results
• Reading of patient and professional related materials
• Presentations to staff and program development as assigned

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Kansas state license and possess CCC or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship.
• BLS required upon hire.
• A minimum of successful completion of clinical internships and eligibility for Clinical Fellowship is required.
• Prior one year hospital/health related experience is preferred with experience in evaluation of swallowing with sensory testing, performing perceptual and acoustic analyses of voice function.

Special Skills Required:

• must possess knowledge of the principles and practice of Speech-Language Pathology and have the ability to apply them in therapeutic treatment programs
• ability to create clear and concise written and oral reports
• understand and abide by the established code of ethics for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology
• ability to maintain patient and facility confidentiality
• must meet competency standards for appropriate procedures
• responsible for high degree of accuracy, judgment, problem solving and cognitive reasoning
• discretion and integrity with regard to confidential information
• good verbal and written communication skills
• ability to work independently.
