We are looking for a reliable and efficient Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. Your primary role is to prepare high-quality sandwiches and assist in the daily production of fresh meals. You will work closely with our lead cooks to ensure all food is prepared to exact specifications while maintaining a spotless and safe kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sandwich Preparation: Assemble sandwiches, paninis, and wraps to order with high accuracy and speed, ensuring visual appeal and consistent quality.
- Ingredient Prep: Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, meats, and cheeses daily.
- Meal Assistance: Help prepare hot and cold meals by measuring ingredients, mixing salads, and assisting with light cooking (e.g., operating grills or ovens).
- Station Management: Organize your workspace before service and maintain "par levels" of all ingredients throughout the shift.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation: Sanitize all work surfaces, wash dishes/utensils, and follow 2026 health and safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic Culinary Skills: Proficiency with knife handling and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment (e.g., meat slicers, sandwich presses).
- Speed & Accuracy: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment during peak service hours.
- Certifications: Possession of a valid 2026 Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30–50 lbs occasionally.
- Teamwork: Excellent communication skills to coordinate with both front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
