Power Infrastructure Construction Manager (Data Center)

Overwatch Mission Critical
WI Full Time
POSTED ON 1/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/27/2026

This role does not require relocation. Instead, it offers a competitive base salary plus a travel allowance to fully support your living expenses during on-site visits to Abilene. While you will not be required to live locally, you must be available to be on-site as needed to support construction activities, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure seamless project execution. The work cadence will be driven by project milestones, critical path activities, and operational needs, and you will have the flexibility to travel in and out accordingly.

The Opportunity

This Power Infrastructure Construction Manager will support one of the largest greenfield data center developments in the world, working directly with the Power Infrastructure Team. This individual will serve as the on-the-ground coordinator, bridging power generation, data center construction, commissioning, and plant operations.

The Power Infrastructure Construction Manager acts as the central coordinator between data center construction activities and energy/power generation operations. This role requires strong communication, proactive risk mitigation, and deep familiarity with outage work, startup sequencing, and industrial electrical systems.

You will serve as the eyes and ears in the field — ensuring accurate reporting, tracking outage alignment, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and keeping leadership informed with real-time updates on power-related impacts.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Coordination & Communication

  • Serve as the onsite liaison between power-generation teams, construction crews, GC, commissioning, utility providers, and plant operations.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Power Infrastructure leadership and energy construction managers.
  • Translate complex field conditions into digestible updates for leadership and stakeholders.

Power / Outage Management

  • Support and track all activities related to outages, startup/shutdown sequences, maintenance events, delays, or safety concerns.
  • Proactively identify risks tied to switching, energization, commissioning timelines, or operational conflicts.
  • Align outage and commissioning schedules with broader construction milestones.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Produce daily field reports, delay notifications, and risk assessments.
  • Provide real-time status updates related to power availability, impacts, and operational readiness.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment startup/shutdown sequences.

Technical Understanding

Develop working knowledge of how power generation interfaces with:

  • UPS systems
  • Switchgear
  • Cooling/load systems
  • Commissioning/energization phases
  • Coordinate with onsite GC, utility providers, and mobile/self-contained power sources.

Required Experience

  • Coal or gas power plant background (operations, maintenance, or outage support)
  • Hands-on experience with plant shutdowns, turnarounds, or outages
  • Strong communication and confidence working with trades, superintendents, and engineering teams
  • Ability to work independently in a large-scale construction environment
  • Familiarity with turbines, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and industrial electrical systems
  • Demonstrated reporting and organizational capabilities
  • Understanding of LOTO procedures and energized work safety zones

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data center construction experience
  • Knowledge of critical data center systems: UPS, switchgear, transformers, generators, cooling loads
  • Experience working with commissioning/startup teams
  • OSHA 10/30 certification
  • Experience coordinating between a GC and energy providers

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an active data center construction environment, encompassing both indoor and outdoor work settings. The role requires the physical ability to perform essential job functions safely and effectively in a dynamic environment that includes ongoing construction activity and evolving site conditions.

The work environment includes areas and temporary structures owned, leased, or controlled by third parties over which Overwatch may have limited or no control. Because the project remains under construction, certain areas of the site — including access routes, staging zones, and temporary structures — may not yet be fully ADA-compliant until construction is complete or those third-party areas are finalized.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in and around active construction areas, which may include unfinished buildings, temporary field offices, staging areas, and partially completed infrastructure. These locations may contain uneven surfaces, limited accessibility, and other conditions typical of construction projects prior to final completion. Overwatch does not control and cannot modify accessibility conditions within areas, facilities, or temporary structures owned or managed by third parties.

Reasonable Accommodation:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position, provided such accommodations do not create safety hazards, impede essential mobility within active work zones, or require modification of facilities not owned or controlled by Overwatch.
