Our Omaha office is currently seeking a part-time Tech to join our team as a Drug Screening Technician. Drug Screen Technicians are responsible for collecting urine specimens from donors at our local office and at customer locations. Our goal is to hire an individual who wants to help us continue our mission of providing only the most professional services to our customers.
NOTE: This position involves the direct observation of female clients participating in a urine drug screening program. This is human service work in a community services program performing drug screening work with the responsibility of utilizing various testing methods and reporting the results to the designated parties. Provides frequent and random on-site and community drug testing, directly observes same-sex client drug testing, sends urine specimens to prescribed laboratory as directed, documents and records data, and follows drug testing procedures and policies at all times. JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the program supervisor, the Drug Screening Technician accompanies same sex clients during the collection of urine for the purposes of the customer being drug tested. The technician observes urine screens, fills out all the appropriate paperwork and seals all urine appropriately to be shipped.
DUTIES
The Drug Screening Technician is responsible for adhering to all departmental policies.
Technicians:
- Accompany and witness all drug tests
- Fill out all paperwork and logs associated with the client's drug test
- Ensure that clients do not take anything into the drug testing room with them
- Observe the client through line of sight during drug screens to ensure the purity of the sample.
- Ensure proper chain of custody is strictly followed
- Report any notable information to the Case Manager, Probation Officer or appropriate party
- Enter drug test initial screen results into our Omega software system
- Communicate in a professional, customer service-oriented manner with donors
- Maintain positive working relationships with persons, agencies and other collaterals
- Assists with routine maintenance of drug testing paperwork and equipment as well as cleanup
- Testify in court if called upon
- Attend mandatory trainings
- Possess a spirit of flexibility
- Understand and respect client confidentiality
- Seek supervision when needed*
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a High School Diploma. Preference given to individuals currently seeking or who have obtained higher education in the Human Services/Criminal Justice field.
- Ability to clear all background checks including Child & Adult Abuse/Neglect Registry; National, State and Local Criminal Records Check; Driver's License Check (cannot have more than 3 points assessed against license); Sex Offender Registry; and Drug Screening. Although a criminal history does not automatically exclude an individual from employment with Owens, failure to disclose will.*
- Own personal and reliable transportation as well as a valid driver's license and clear driving record (no more than 3 points) to drive to collection locations.
