We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Litigation Counsel within the Legal Department based in either Houston or Dallas. The position requires a talented, intellectually curious, highly motivated, collegial and collaborative lawyer, who is licensed to practice in Texas and who has significant trial and litigation experience. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter capable of partnering with stakeholders, colleagues, outside counsel, and litigation support team. The ideal candidate will also have impeccable integrity and a desire to be innovative in how to approach litigation.

Required Qualifications:

• JD from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association;
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas;
• Significant experience with a top tier Texas or National law firm;
• Minimum 5 years of litigation experience;
• Extensive trial and litigation experience, preferably in the energy space;
• Ability to manage a complex litigation docket across various subject matters;
• Demonstrated capabilities that include researching, analyzing, and handling both large and small matters in a wide variety of practice areas in multiple jurisdictions;
• Experience providing advice on insurance issues and experience with insurance or coverage related disputes;
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively on complex issues; and
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of legal matters.

Candidates must also be able to:

• Manage overall litigation and arbitration strategy effectively & efficiently in cases of varying sizes and complexity;
• Manage discovery plans in litigation and arbitration, using current and forward-thinking electronic discovery techniques and technologies where appropriate;
• Manage and collaborate with outside counsel and other legal professionals to develop effective, creative litigation strategy, consistent with the Company's goals and objectives;
• Collaborate with business unit lawyers to provide pre-litigation advice to stakeholders;
• Draft and/or edit pleadings and settlement agreements as well as communications with opposing counsel, counter-parties, courts, and arbitration panels;
• Present to stakeholders and executive management on legal issues, trends, or actual cases; and
• Review, analyze, and assimilate voluminous email, complex contracts, and other documents associated with potential legal issues and claims.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with a wide variety of litigation, including personal injury, toxic tort, complex commercial disputes, antitrust, class actions, enviornmental litigation, and domestic & international arbitration;
• Extensive experience with royalty litigation, including in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado;
• Experience handling or assisting with investigations; and
• Prior experience serving as in-house litigation counsel.
