What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Coordinator position at Ozark Center?
The Recreation Coordinator is a highly organized staff level professional responsible for ensuring that the recreation and activity needs of the clients in residential treatment are met or exceeded by licensure. He/she provides services to clients impacted by a variety of behavioral health issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often time have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. He/she must demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of recovery. Works in collaboration with all treatment team to identify client recreational needs and provide programming specific to meet those needs. He/she will assess each youth to determine recreational and physical needs. He/She will be trained in trauma informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which prevents victimization, abuse or trauma as a result of the care received.
Examples of Work:
Complete a recreational assessment designed to determine recreational interests, limitations and needs of the client along with progress reports regarding the effort and skills developed by the client. Coordinate a planned, structured, and regularly scheduled recreational/activity program which maximizes the utilization of existing campus and community resources. Provide support to psych techs and help to provide direct supervision of clients during activities. Actively participate in ITP meetings to provide guidance on the physical and recreation needs of the client. Arrange the R&S Pep Rallies and will assist in promoting, arranging and coordinating holiday activities and parties. Other duties assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Administration team.
