Job Title : Body Shop Estimator
Job Summary : The Body Shop Estimator at Columbus Auto Group is responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing repair estimates, and coordinating with customers, insurance companies, and the body shop team to ensure efficient and quality repairs.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of automotive body repairs, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to provide accurate and detailed estimates.
Responsibilities :
- Vehicle Damage Assessment and Estimating :
- Inspect vehicles and assess the extent of damage, identifying necessary repairs and parts.
- Prepare detailed and accurate repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software.
- Consult with technicians and other relevant staff to determine the most effective repair methods and timelines.
- Provide clear explanations of the estimate to customers, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Customer Service and Communication :
- Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring their satisfaction throughout the repair process.
- Communicate and negotiate with insurance companies to obtain necessary approvals and resolve any issues.
- Keep customers informed about repair progress, estimated completion times, and any changes or delays.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints, striving to provide excellent service at all times.
- Parts Coordination and Ordering :
- Identify necessary parts and materials for repairs, ensuring accuracy and compatibility.
- Coordinate with the parts department to order required parts in a timely manner.
- Verify the receipt and correctness of ordered parts, resolving any discrepancies as needed.
- Workflow Management and Quality Control :
- Collaborate with the body shop manager to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to repair schedules.
- Monitor the progress of repairs and address any issues or delays promptly.
- Conduct final inspections to ensure repairs meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Documentation and Administration :
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, repair orders, and related paperwork.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation for insurance claims and billing purposes.
- Follow established procedures for documentation, reporting, and compliance.
Requirements :
- Previous experience as a body shop estimator or in a similar role is required.
- Strong knowledge of automotive body repairs and estimating techniques.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and related tools.
