The Associate Teacher works with, and is supervised by, a Lead Teacher to provide a positive learning environment for each student. Teachers at this level are invested in students’ academic, emotional and character development. The Lower School is characterized by joy in learning and in discovery amongst students and teachers. The Associate Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in creating a dynamic learning environment for every student. He/she/they helps to manage the daily classroom tasks and has teaching and supervisory responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Teacher. He/she/they is eager to grow as an educator and learn from the Lead Teacher, the leadership team and faculty.
The ideal candidate has been successful in a collaborative setting, exhibits good judgment and possesses excellent communication skills. Enthusiasm for teaching, especially young students, is a critical quality. He/she/they should possess a wealth of patience, humor, energy and creativity and work well within a team of teachers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Is committed to the success of every student in his/her/their classroom
- Confers with lead teacher on progress of students and daily classroom tasks
- Effectively incorporates principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of Lower School life
- Models and reinforces the Noble Knights Pillars of Character
- Performs supervisory duties, including instruction in specific learning areas, and early morning duties
- Participates in regular faculty and professional meetings and teacher training workshops and is committed to learning best practices with colleagues
- Attends after-school faculty meetings, evening parent gatherings and weekend admissions events as necessary
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S) required; elementary education degree preferred
- Love of young children and their development
- A positive outlook, flexibility and a collaborative, nurturing nature
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills
- Proficient using educational technology, including interactive whiteboards
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion practices
