Department Overview
The Sourcing organization is the functional lead for the procurement of materials and services at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The department collaborates with internal clients and suppliers managing $5 billion of annual company spend to develop mutually beneficial total cost solutions for goods and services. The department provides the following services to internal clients: procurement of goods and services, strategic sourcing and cost savings, contract management, supplier relationship management, supplier diversity planning, execution and outreach, compliance management, ongoing procurement field support and management of the procure to pay cycle.
Position Summary
The position will be located in the Power Generation service territory. Preferred locations include, Oakland, Burney, Auberry, and Auburn, although other locations can be considered. The final work location will be determined between the hiring leader and the successful candidate.
This position will report to the Sourcing Portfolio Manager, Generation and will manage spend categories for Power Generation programs. The Senior Category Lead position develops and manages one or more sourcing spend categories and is responsible for effective contract management of all contracts associated with their assigned categories. The Senior Category Lead position develops strategic category plans to optimize cost savings, service excellence, diversity spend and total cost of ownership for the categories. He or she will effectively influence the Line of Business (LOB), including senior leadership, to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment of sourcing strategies. This position works with the LOB to develop, source, and negotiate major contracts. He or she plays a key role in the Supplier Relationship Management and Scorecard process.
Successful candidates will be required to sign non-disclosure agreement and complete compliance and ethics training.

This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $104,000
California Maximum: $166,000
Bay Area Minimum: $109,000
Bay Area Maximum: $175,000
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of category strategies of low to medium complexity.
- Manage top tier suppliers.
- Lead cross-functional team through strategic sourcing process and development/execution of negotiation strategies for low to medium complexity spend categories.
- Maintain awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research.
Conduct and document market research and supplier risk analysis to verify the financial health of existing and potential suppliers.
- Create and maintain category plans.
- Develop and sustain mutually beneficial strategic relationships with tier 1 and 2 suppliers.
- Develop and review performance data with suppliers; work with suppliers to drive ongoing value discovery.
- Lead and manage RFPs for high visibility projects to support Power Generation.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Four years of experience in Supply Chain or job-related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management job related
Discipline, or equivalent job related experience.
Desired:
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Six Sigma, CPSM, or related certificate
- 6 years of work experience in the areas of procurement, sourcing and/or contract management
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Ability to identify and resolve problems and implementation barriers
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Project management or utility experience
- Ability to work on multiple issues and tasks
