Department Overview

The company’s Service Planning and Design organization (SP&D) supports the business vision by delivering customers safe, reliable, and affordable electric and gas services in compliance with all applicable regulatory and internal requirements. SP&D supports both gas and electric operations through its customer project management, design and estimating functions.

Position Summary

In this role you will support the Enterprise Customer Management (ECM) Leadership Team. This individual will have an openness to a feedback culture, have a strong sense of curiosity and desire to learn and teach others, and have a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders and influence others. This individual will be responsible for working with the ECM Team to support the Service Planning & Design (SP&D) organization within the Gas Engineering line of business.

This role will also serve as the industry engagement and process improvement lead for the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure market. This role solves unique and complex customer, program and process problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative process solutions in a collaborative manner to support ECM Program objectives and may drive or support major cross functional initiatives/improvement efforts. This role will require strong analytical and various software skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google Earth,etc.) to be successful. The Program Manager may develop highly complex process tracking systems that have wide ranging impacts and application across multiple departments related to the PG&E Service Planning & Design organization.

Position duties may include (but are not limited to)-

  • Program Management Leadership
  • Act as the Program Manager for the EV charging infrastructure market
  • With ECM Leadership, effectively engage all end-to-end process/program stakeholders through clearly developed and thoughtful weekly communication and program execution meetings
  • Develop standardized tools, reports and activities to proactively manage program execution and anticipate risks before they yield significant program impacts
  • Identify areas of opportunity and engage stakeholders to influence process improvement activities
  • Process Improvement Support
  • Act as Process Improvement Support for one of the EV charging infrastructure market
  • Drive cross-functional engagement among all key stakeholders to oversee process execution and monitor performance associated to the following areas:

 Process Mapping

 Oversight for dependency backlogs

 Measurement of quality metrics

 Measurement of financial impacts by Workstream

 Oversight for out-year work planning and forecating

 DOR Support for ECM Leadership Meetings

  • Integration of Lean Management System practices
  • Works closely with the process and program stakeholders to integrate the lean management methodology and tools within the existing daily, weekly, monthly and annual tasks of program.
  • Supports identification of issues, escalation, problem solving and key stakeholder engagement to develop sustainable solutions.
  • Program Management Improvement and Support
  • Supports the development of standardized internal practices and utilization of tools and applications to drive consistency and best practice.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Oakland, CA)

Position will require approximately 20% of travel time in work schedule.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$140,000

Bay Area Maximum:$238,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Qualifications-

Minimum:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of related experience or equivalent

Desired:

  • Graduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, Statistics or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • Experience with PG&E metrics development and production
  • Field experience with maintenance, construction and engineering of electric systems (prior utility experience)
  • LSS Certification Green Belt or higher
  • Experience in project management or engineering of electric/gas distribution projects
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing complex problems
  • Knowledge of construction and permitting
  • Proven ability to solve problems and influence others without a direct chain of command
  • Fluent in the use of industry standard project management tools and/or current company tools
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to determine root causes of work performance problems
  • Budget and forecast capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, Statistics or equivalent experience
  • Seven (7) years of total related experience
  • Experience coordinating cross discipline teams with proven ability to effectively work with and influence diverse stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences from management to construction field forces on financial, work performance and related issues

  • May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives

  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support Company goals.
  • Leads development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives. Collaborates across organization to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
  • Responsible for utilizing other departments and teams to meet program goals.
  • Organize and lead cross-utility project teams to influence utility, regulatory and/or industry decisions.
  • Leads large statewide energy efficiency programs or efforts on behalf of PG&E to resolve issues and conflicts or to educate other parties.
  • Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership, other utilities with similar programs, industry and/or regulatory decision makers to influence market place and regulatory strategies impacting PG&E and its customers.
