PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Office Engineer to support WMATA’s capital improvement, rehabilitation, and state of good repair programs. In this role, you will work from the office to assist in managing project documentation, coordinating between field teams and office staff, and ensuring the efficient execution of construction projects. Your technical expertise and organizational skills will be key in supporting project managers and engineering teams, while upholding WMATA’s high standards of quality and safety.
Scope of Work
The Office Engineer will serve as an essential link between the field and the project office. You will assist in the preparation and review of technical documents, maintain project records, support contractor communications, and monitor project progress to ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation & Recordkeeping:
- Prepare, review, and manage project documents including plans, schedules, and change orders.
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
- Project Support:
- Assist project managers and engineering teams by tracking project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with contractors and field personnel to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and discrepancies.
- Technical Assistance:
- Review construction drawings and specifications to verify alignment with project requirements.
- Support the preparation of technical reports and assist in the implementation of quality control measures.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between the project office and field teams to facilitate effective communication and workflow.
- Organize and schedule project meetings, preparing agendas and compiling action items.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Assist in ensuring that all project activities comply with WMATA’s safety and regulatory standards.
- Help coordinate responses to audit findings or safety observations as required.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 2-4 years of experience in an office engineering role, project coordination, or a similar technical support function within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to pass required background checks and any necessary clearances.
