The Senior Director will work across clients representing agricultural commodities, CPG companies across food, beverage and health & nutrition sectors, and industry associations. This position has day-to-day management responsibility for several FoodMinds clients and will lead account strategy, client program planning and program implementation ensuring overall success of client programs and client retention.
This position is based in our Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco, Boston, Richmond or Washington D.C. office. This is not a remote position.

Senior Director, FoodMinds
FoodMinds, a division of Padilla, is seeking a Senior Director to serve as a key nutrition, science and public health strategy and communications team leader. The Senior Director will work across clients representing agricultural commodities, CPG companies across food, beverage and health & nutrition sectors, and industry associations. This position has day-to-day management responsibility for several FoodMinds clients and will lead account strategy, client program planning and program implementation ensuring overall success of client programs and client retention.
This position is based in our Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco, Boston, Richmond or Washington D.C. office. This is not a remote position.
Your Responsibilities
- Translate science, regulatory actions, insights and trends into strategies, thought leadership and compelling communications for clients
- Stay up to date across the food, nutrition, health and policy landscape, with an eye to important food and nutrition topics such as dietary guidance and authoritative nutrition recommendations, sustainable food systems, and health and wellbeing, including food as medicine and personalized nutrition
- Grow and strengthen business with existing clients, and support prospecting and business development efforts with new clients
- Supervise the development and implementation of integrated campaigns, messaging, client programs and KPIs to deliver the highest possible outcomes for clients
- Contribute to agency marketing, staff development and thought leadership efforts
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of global food and nutrition landscape and key stakeholders, including food policy, regulatory affairs, nutrition science, food systems, sustainability, and food, nutrition, health & wellness trends and news
- Proven program management experience – acting as a team leader, thought partner, relationship manager to lead programs with multiple projects happening in parallel, delivering on time, on budget with measurable results
- Work across teams, comfortably functioning and managing up/down in a fast-paced working environment, and training and mentoring staff in a variety of professional skills across marketing, strategy, account management and more
- Interpret and critically analyze regulatory headwinds, scientific research and other insights to identify implications for clients and inform evidence-based recommendations and insights-driven approaches
- Demonstrate outstanding ability to write strategic integrated marketing materials and plans
- Anticipate client needs and project challenges, creatively problem solving and escalating appropriately
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, occasionally operate office equipment
- Able to travel as needed
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, public health, public policy or a related discipline; equivalent working experience will be considered
- Registered dietitian credential desired
- 8-10 years of communications experience, ideally in an agency or consultancy setting
- High degree of knowledge in food and nutrition communications and strategy consulting related to scientific affairs, policy, regulatory, public affairs and health & wellness marketing
- Management experience that includes financial oversight and program-level/account management, and staff management
- Advanced communication skills: effective storytelling, strong writing/editing, active listening, strong presentation delivery, including ability to tailor communications for diverse audiences, e.g., nutrition scientists, health professionals, nutrition, food and beverage industry professionals and consumers
