JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Sr. Visitor Experience Supervisor, the Visitor Experience Associate will work on the visitor experience team supporting the daily operation of the admissions desk by selling general admission and Annenberg theater tickets, memberships, and providing information to guests regarding the museum’s exhibitions and programming.
This position is also responsible for improving and enhancing the visitor experience, as well as guest-focused engagement with volunteers and other staff members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist all museum guests; effectively handle questions, sales, service, and payments for museum admission, Annenberg theater events, and other museum programming.
- Enter ticket sales, accept payment, process transactions, make correct change.
- Effectively operate ticketing and sales systems in accordance with established procedures.
- Assures work space is adequately prepared for daily use by checking inventory of tickets and other critical materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Responsible for daily cash balance and settlement at the end of shift.
- Assist at exhibition openings, fundraising events, and other museum programs, as needed.
- Ensure ADA compliant ticketing practices as well as keeping proper ADA compliant materials stocked in all locations.
- Maintaining a complete and accurate database in software used.
REQUIREMENTS
- Schedule may include weekends and holidays or variable scheduling may be required.
- Strong computer skills. Knowledge of ticketing software preferred.
- Available to work evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Requires regular and consistent attendance.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Background in cash-handling, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Must stay current on all events and activities that are happening at Palm Springs Art Museum as well as membership and admission information at all locations.
- Ability to properly prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.
- Ability to interact tactfully with board members, volunteers, members, and visitors.
Physical Requirements of the Position: Ability to lift 20 pounds is necessary for moving material and equipment; ability to stoop and kneel is necessary for accessing files; and necessary vision/sight ability to read documents and computer monitors.
- Other Requirements: Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, very late and early morning hours required. This position requires full availability during the museums open hours Thursday- Monday.
