About Us
Palm Springs Section 14 Survivors, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to justice, reparations, and community healing for families displaced from Section 14 in Palm Springs. Following a historic settlement, the organization is entering Phase Two of its reparations work, focused on continuing, strengthening, and implementing established programs, partnerships, and initiatives that create lasting impact for survivors, descendants, and the broader community.
Position Summary
The Program Director is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing organizational programs and overseeing key operational functions in alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities. This is a hybrid position combining remote work with in-person engagement as needed. Residence in or near Palm Springs, CA is preferred to support community engagement, meetings, and program implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of organizational programs aligned with strategic and reparations goals.
- Manage program operations, including planning, tracking, evaluation, and reporting.
- Provide general administrative and operational support, including recordkeeping and documentation.
- Support coordination with the City of Palm Springs related to settlement programmatic benefits, as directed by the Board.
- Support grant research, proposal development, and grant reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and relevant governmental entities.
- Support strategic planning and the development of new programs and partnerships, subject to Board approval.
- Prepare reports and materials for the Board of Directors and participate in meetings as requested.
- Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- At least four (4) years of experience in program coordination, nonprofit operations, public-sector partnerships, or a related field.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a hybrid work environment.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with or supporting a nonprofit organization; experience interacting with Boards and/or governmental entities preferred.
* Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and general technical skills required for hybrid work.
- Residence in or near Palm Springs, CA preferred to support in-person engagement.
