Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grading Foreman to oversee grading operations on construction sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive construction site experience, and proficiency with construction management software. This role involves supervising grading crews, ensuring project specifications are met, and maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. The Grading Foreman will play a critical role in coordinating activities, managing schedules, and ensuring the successful completion of grading tasks within budget and timeline constraints.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate grading activities on construction sites, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Lead and manage grading crews, providing clear instructions and oversight to ensure efficient workflow.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents to guide grading operations.
- Utilize construction management software such as Primavera P6, HeavyBid, ProCore, and Bluebeam for scheduling, budgeting, and documentation purposes.
- Monitor project progress, update schedules, and communicate effectively with project managers and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and enforce safety protocols among team members.
- Conduct quality control inspections to verify that grading work meets required standards.
- Manage contracts related to grading scope of work and coordinate with subcontractors as needed.
- Use tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing when necessary on site.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction management with a focus on grading or earthwork operations.
- Supervising experience leading grading crews or similar teams on large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, construction estimating, and project scheduling tools including Primavera P6 and Construction management software like ProCore or Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with heavy civil projects such as pipelines or other infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management practices on construction sites.
- Ability to read schematics and use testing tools such as ohmmeters for electrical components.
- Excellent management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Relevant certifications in construction management or safety (e.g., OSHA certification) are highly desirable.
