Position Summary:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Codes discharged patients' accounts.
- Prepares the patient chart for discharge process and assembles components in the correct order.
- Assigns and abstracts medical and consultant data.

Experience: two years of experience as a coder with Medical Records preferred
Licensure/Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCA (Certified Coding Associate), or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) required.
Other: typing, filing, record keeping and record coding skills; work organization, prioritization and time management skills, sound judgement and decision-making skills; familiar with medical terminology, specific familiarity with psychiatric terminology helpful; effective communication and interpersonal actions with the ability to follow instructions, yet perform under stress in a productive, independent manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of Health Information Management systems and operations. Computer literate; skill sets to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain information as highly confidential. Knowledge of department and personnel policies. Skill in oral and written communication, organization, time management and interpersonal relationships. This job required understanding of and compliance with PLBH's safety and loss control policies.
