What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Medical Assistant position at Palo Alto Eye Group?

Our established and growing ophthalmology practice needs a bright and energetic individual with excellent customer service skills to fill a permanent full-time position. Must be able to commute to practice sites in Palo Alto and San Jose.

Previous experience in a medical office a plus but not necessary
Will train the right person

Duties :

Greet patients warmly

Schedule appointments and manage incoming calls

Oversee insurance verification and obtain necessary authorizations

Respond to records requests

Schedule surgery and ensure preoperative paperwork is in order

Room patients, chart chief complaints

Ophthalmic testing (will train)

Required traits :

Strong communication / English language skills

Excellent telephone skills

Highly organized and detail oriented

Computer proficiency
