Qualifications:
Education & Experience
· Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of experience working with students in an organized setting, including one year experience working with special education students preferred.
Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Behavior Services Manager, provides school personnel with behavior support/coaching on student-specific behavioral interventions and/or behavioral crisis support. The Instructional Assistant Behavior Support will receive direct supervision from the Behavior Services Manager, and assistance from Behavior Specialists under the direction of the Behavior Services Manager. Applicants for this position are expected to have a valid California Driver License and have access to reliable transportation for travel between the sites.
Specific Duties Include:
· Assist teachers and other personnel (i.e., instructional assistants, OT, etc.) by modeling instructional programming and behavior management strategies based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
· Provide a variety of clerical and supportive tasks. Maintains and monitors the organization and completeness of individual student databases (i.e., google drive files) ensuring appropriate data entry and progress on specific targets are updated in a timely manner.
· With assistance from the Behavior Specialist/Behavior Services Manager, provide initial or ongoing training to school personnel on student-specific behavioral procedures identified by the overseeing Behavior Specialist.
· With assistance from a Behavior Specialist, assist with the implementation of assessments and development of appropriate programming or behavioral plans.
· Recognize and intervene during behavioral crises involving aggressive and/or dangerous behaviors to maintain safety of school personnel and students by implementing behavior intervention plans or District-approved emergency interventions.
· Coach school personnel during behavioral crises.
· Document and report a behavioral crisis (post-incident) to appropriate personnel as soon as possible when forming part of a crisis response.
· With assistance from a Behavior Specialist, review individualized programming and behavior intervention plans with instructional personnel.
· Collect, record, and summarize student behavioral data.
· Update graphs from behavioral data with guidance from a Behavior Specialist.
· Review schedule daily using district-provided digital device(s).
· Attends team meetings and shares updates on student progress and feedback regarding programs.
· Participate in specialized professional development training provided by Behavior Services Manager, Behavior Specialists or other District personnel related to strategies that address behavioral and/or social needs of students, behavior management techniques and procedures, etc.
· Perform all related duties as assigned.

· Ability to interpret and implement behavioral intervention protocols as written.
· Must maintain a professional appearance.
· Understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner.

· Maintain calm and patience during stressful situations.
· Maintaining certification as needed.
· Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
This position requires knowledge of:
· Methods to successfully complete necessary behavior management and safety training.
· General needs and behaviors of children.
· Familiarity with Behavior intervention plans, data collection, and ABA methodologies.
· Proper English usage and grammar.
· Oral and written communication skills.
· Scaffolding assignments to help students access curriculum.
· Computer and software applications appropriate to assignment.
