The Position
The Refractive Counselor will contribute to the fulfillment of the Eye Center of Northern Colorado’s mission statement by providing a strong dedication to patient satisfaction. Our Refractive Counselor will serve as the primary contact for LASIK scheduling, inquiries, and consultations. Duties include scheduling appointments, educating patients, collecting payments, and performing diagnostic testing.
- Schedules for LASIK consultations, LASIK surgery appointments, and post-LASIK refractions; collects any applicable payments for services.
- Conducts consultation appointments with prospective patients to provide education on services, procedures, and expectations.
- Performs any applicable diagnostic tests to assist the physician in determining whether the patient is a candidate for refractive surgery.
- Prepares pre-operative charts and maintains an inventory of marketing materials and informational packets.
- Tracks and follows up with patient inquiries.
- Assists with pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Assists with surgeries performed in the laser room.
- Explains financing options and assists patients with financing applications.
- Supports clinic by performing technical workups.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance/Skills Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in medical sales.
- Skilled in maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage inventory and sales reports
- Thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Education/Certifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in a medical office setting.
- Optometry or ophthalmology experience preferred.

- This is a Full-Time Position.
- Compensation for this role will be $27 - $32 an hour based on experience.
- This position is bonus eligible.
