ABOUT PANTHERx RARE 

PANTHERx Rare Pharmacy, part of Envolve Pharmacy Solutions, is one of the largest and fastest growing rare pharmacies in the United States. PANTHERx transforms lives by delivering medicine breakthroughs, clinical excellence, and access solutions to patients living with rare and devastating conditions. Although the overall incidence of rare diseases is as common as diabetes, less than 7% of the 7,000 known rare and devastating disorders have an approved therapy. Changes in federal policy and advances in science have led to a surge in FDA orphan drug approvals, providing tremendous hope to the rare disease community. PANTHERx was recently awarded Specialty Pharmacy of the Year by the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) and earned the inaugural Accredited Distinction in Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). PANTHERx is a three-time winner of the prestigious MMIT Patient Choice Award, including the 2020 honor. PANTHERx is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, licensed in all 50 states, and holds accreditations from URAC, NABP, and ACHC. 

FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW 

The PANTHERx Rare Pharmacy Fellowship Program offers a unique and distinctive opportunity to interface with patients, healthcare providers, health plans and manufacturers to effectively optimize patient outcomes. Completion of this program will result in a highly knowledgeable pharmacist competent in both clinical and business aspects of rare pharmacy management. Our fellows will have opportunities to work in the areas of Business & Pharmacy Operations, Quality Improvement & Clinical Education, Pharmacy Analytics & Reporting, Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, & Managed Markets. 

FELLOWSHIP GOALS

 • Perform focused, evidence-based comprehensive disease and medication therapy management services for patients living with rare disease states

 • Interact with prescribers, patients, and partners to optimize the unique and complex care of rare patients

 • Analyze, develop, and implement quality improvement initiatives including pharmacovigilance to further enhance medication safety

 • Participate in the development and analysis of clinical initiatives focused on enhancing patient therapeutic outcomes

 • Develop skills required for medication pipeline analysis, management and market forecasting

 • Understand specialty medication supply chain, inventory management and the impact on pharmacy operations

 • Participate in quarterly business reviews and interface with industry partners

 • Gain an understanding of accreditation and regulatory standards, compliance, reporting and auditing

 • Develop clinical resources to support professional development of internal colleagues

 • Provide clinical and drug information support to healthcare providers and patients

 • Coordinate and complete a focused research project and submit a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal

 • Cultivate leadership, analytical and communication skills 

PROGRAM DETAILS

 • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education required

 • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania

 • Fellow receives competitive stipend, comprehensive medical plan and paid time off

 • Travel expenses for a national meeting, professional membership and required travel

Selected applicants will be asked to complete an on-site interview and a 30-minute presentation on a rare pharmacy topic of their choosing.
