We are looking for an Advanced Controls Engineer to join our Critical Handling Solutions (CHS) business segment. This team specializes in designing and building a variety of high performance, high reliability custom crane and lifting equipment. We serve several diverse industries including aerospace, nuclear test laboratories, commercial nuclear plants, and various other industries that have a need for the most advanced lifting systems that are possible. Success Criteria
Bringing a continuous learner mindset to work, the Advanced Controls Engineer will design, develop, and drive control systems to produce industry-leading products and solutions. The work you'll do will typically be in partnership with our Senior Engineers, while providing a ton of opportunity for growth and development in working on independent projects.
Your experience and interest in the following will set you apart and allow you to hit the ground running:
- Control system design, including control cabinet layout, schematic generation, and assembly diagrams using CAD software. Experience in AutoCAD Electrical a plus.
- Electrical design principles. Experience in NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and IEEE standards.
- Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) selection and configuration.
- PLC programming, including understanding of networks/protocols, safety programming, and machine control.
- Creation of technical documents including system specifications, operating instructions, and test plans.
- Knowledge of standard Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components.
- Desire to work as a committed team member during all phases of development including onsite integration.
- Most importantly, have an interest in the design of large, custom machinery. We want people who are excited about what they do!
