Benefits & Payroll Coordinator

We’re seeking a proactive Benefits and Payroll Coordinator with strong benefits and payroll knowledge to join our team. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources and works across departments to deliver a high level of HR support, ensuring smooth benefits, payroll, and compliance operations that positively impact our people-first culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and manage employee benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, etc.), including enrollments, changes, and terminations
• Coordinate annual benefits renewals and open enrollment in partnership with brokers, vendors, and the HR team
• Conduct routine benefits audits to maintain accuracy and compliance with plan requirements
• Reconcile benefits invoices with payroll deductions, researching and resolving discrepancies
• Oversee COBRA administration and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
• Administer and track leaves of absence (FMLA, STD, LTD, personal) while ensuring legal compliance and timely communication
• Serve as the primary resource for employee benefits and payroll inquiries, providing clear, timely support
• Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accurate employee data, deductions, and confidentiality
• Maintain and update HRIS records, supporting clean and consistent data management
• Prepare employee communications and materials related to benefits, leave, payroll, and other HR updates
• Stay current on relevant employment laws (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.) and help ensure organizational compliance
• Collaborate on HR initiatives, process improvements, and special projects
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• 2–4 years of experience in HR or related field, with a focus on benefits administration and payroll
• Experience with HRIS platforms (Paycom preferred)
• Strong understanding of benefits programs, enrollment processes, and compliance basics
• Familiarity with payroll processing and reconciliation
• Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations (EEOC, FMLA, ACA, etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly
• Exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a service-oriented mindset

Physical Demands:
