Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Cottage Program Coordinator, the Shift Supervisor is a leadership position in a 24/7/365-day Intermediate Care Facility environment. The role of the Shift Supervisor is to ensure the training of ICF team members to operate efficiently and effectively, as well as that each resident’s health and safety needs are being met when the supervisor is on duty. 

The Cottage Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising and training the Direct Support Professional (DSP) team to provide effective, efficient, and satisfactory service to Parc Center for Disabilities residents in the areas of adaptive equipment, mealtime procedures, transfers, and active treatment. In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all required documentation is completed by overseeing DSP team data and documentation daily.

Essential Responsibilities

· Provide initial and ongoing training of the Parc residents’ use of adaptive equipment, mealtime cards and procedures, wheelchairs, hoyer lift, gait belt, repositioning and walkers as needed. 

· Ensure that the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals served in the program are being met. Identify and reports any behavioral or physical changes in residents’ to program coordinator, nurse, QIDP, program specialist behavior specialist. Identify and initiate resolutions. 

· Ensures meal card and resident information is up to date. 

· Ensure residents have necessary adaptive equipment and that it is in good condition. 

· Ensures completion of all DSP daily documentation by completing monitoring sheets and progress sheets with program specialist. 

· Attends and participates in standing committee meeting as requested. 

· Provides care and assistance to residents throughout the shift, to include bathing, dressing, toileting, repositioning, and dining. 

· Assigns team members and ensures correct ratios are maintained when there are call-outs, breaks, appointments, trainings, outings, etc. Takes group of residents until coverage is available. 

· Identifies potentially hazardous conditions and completes maintenance request, notifying Cottage Manager immediately. 

· Completes daily plans on weekends and holidays. Assigns DSPs to outings, makes necessary revisions and ensures ratios are maintained. Places corrected plans in Social Service Coordinator’s mailbox and manager team board.

· Completes building checks frequently, especially after sending a group out for an outing or an appointment to ensure the ratio is being maintained.

· Assigns employees to transport residents, needed equipment or pick up residents from ADT as needed or at the end of the day. Attends doctor appointments and/or assigns employees to attend doctor’s appointments.

· Maintains and ensures repair of wheelchairs, and adaptive equipment, bed rails, bed rail pads, bed alarms, air mattresses, shower chairs through ordering and scheduling repairs. 

· Complete proficiency checks during meals and day program. Maintain the ADT adaptive equipment bin and counts of adaptive equipment and aprons.

· Ensures the team has all the household supplies, hygiene supplies and clothing/shoes needed for the residents. 

· Communicates in a professional manner with staff, parents/guardians, therapist, and visitors. 

· Completes supervision training with team as needed.

· Completes supervisor checklist with other supervisors on duty as applicable. 

· Implements behavior protocols/programs according to policy.

· Types up notes from IDT meetings and supervisor meetings.

· Ensures all forms are updated and readily available for employees.

· Ensures supervisor Outlook calendar is up to date with all resident appointments, important events and meetings. 

· Ensures employees follow proper policy and procedures for safety, infection control and housekeeping.

· Ensures snacks and refrigerator is stocked for resident snacks daily. 

· Rotating on-call weekend once a month

· Demonstrates knowledge of facility evacuation and emergency procedures. 

· Ensures company and departmental policies and procedures are followed.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

· High School Diploma required.

· Experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled adults required

· Minimum one year of supervisory experience

· Ability to obtain and maintain Professional Crisis Management, CPR, and First Aid certifications.

· Valid Florida Drivers’ License with acceptable driving record. 

· Able to obtain and maintain Parc Center for Disabilities’ driver certification.

· Be able to lift up to 50 pounds if needed.

· Background in the realm of adults with disabilities, with an affinity for details, order, and documentation.

· Able to use independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload in a fast-paced environment with real-world problem-solving skills.

· The ability to work with confidential materials, employee, and residents’ personal information. 

· Strong organizational skills.

· Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication, employee interaction, decision-making, management, and organization.

  • The      ability to pass and maintain all required trainings, including but not      limited to: Professional Crisis Management.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel). 

  • Be physically, visually, and auditory aware of      the cognitive, social, and physical needs of clients.

· Communicate proficiently verbally and in writing in English.

· Able to communicate clearly and professionally. 

· Able to work with a diverse population of people.
