Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and driving sales growth at this three generational family-owned food company. This role involves engaging with potential clients through various channels, including cold calling and direct sales efforts. A strong understanding of the market and customer needs and working cohesively in a team environment is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through networking, cold calling, and referrals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends and identify potential areas for growth.
- Present products and services to prospective clients, tailoring presentations to meet their specific needs.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to prepare sales quotations and bid documents.
- Service existing accounts by processing orders, adding new items, and capturing opportunities for growth.
- Track sales metrics and report on performance against targets regularly.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales process to enhance client experiences, resolving complaints in a timely manner and working collaboratively to avoid future issues.
- Stay informed about product developments, industry changes, and competitive landscape.
Skills
- Proven experience in B2B sales or outside sales is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on building long-term relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with food distribution or retail sales is a plus.
- Proficient in using software tools for CRM, ERP order processing, and sales tracking purposes.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and overcoming objections during the sales process.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple accounts.
Education and Experience:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
· Food industry experience a plus
· Years of experience: 2-25 years
· Pay commensurate with experience and qualifications
Physical Demands of the Position:
· While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and may be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
Work Environment & Location:
· Normal office environment; hybrid remote work potential within commute distance after initial training period.
· Work closely with other departments to meet goals.
· Primary remote work considered for candidates with significant industry experience
