What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director position at Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce?
Purpose of Position
The Executive Director is responsible for and accountable to the Board of Directors to provide executive leadership to the Paris – Henry County Chamber of Commerce. The position works closely with city and county officials, chamber members and business owners to host events and programs that promote the Paris – Henry County business community. The Executive Director is the primaryspokesperson for the Chamber and is responsible for providing highly visible leadership in the community and building collaboration and partnerships with key stakeholders.

- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives, create better business practices, and establish an organizational structure that optimizes performance and operating results.
- Develop membership goals which include development of prospects, retention of current membership, and expansion of the Chamber’s footprint into new markets.
- Develop and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with board members, city and county government officials, Paris - Henry County Industrial staff, strategic committees, Chamber members and organizations.
- Maintain open communication with the Board and work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber, bringing issues to the Board in a timely fashion.
- Work with the President to prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee meetings.
- Develop goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board.
- Plan, participate in, and manage Chamber events throughout the year. Attend business and cultural events on behalf of the Chamber and promote the Chamber's mission and membership.
- Prepare and manage budgets, analyze organizational performance, and project financial performance.
- Oversee the general finances of the Chamber in collaboration with the Finance Committee.
- Develop an annual budget for the Chamber's operations, delineating projected revenues, expenses, and net profit as appropriate in collaboration with the Finance Committee and the approval of the board.
- Lead, direct, and develop the Chamber's fundraising strategies.
- Serve as the principal spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber.
- Attend Chamber Board and committee meetings and provide staff support to Board and committee efforts.
- Assist City and County officials with business recruitment and retention.
- Provide members opportunities for professional growth and business expansion through programming and education.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including managing programs, staffing, membership, budget, and marketing efforts.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Specifications
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in any of the following: management, marketing/communications, finance/accounting
Qualifications
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to be self-motivated and work effectively without direct supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, and listening skills and public speaking in large and small groups.
- Exceptional public relations and customer service skills.
- Strong executive and supervisory skills, including the ability to plan, organize, lead, delegate, and monitor other chamber employees.
- Working knowledge of local, regional, and state-level political systems.
- Ability to build a culture which promotes productivity and customer service at the highest level.
- Exceptional computer skills.
- Proficient in developing and analyzing all financial aspects of the Chamber, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements and annual budgets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and attend to details while also evaluating project outcomes.
- Goal oriented and entrepreneurial with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Critical thinking and fearless examination of problems and opportunities.
- Strong strategic planning skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Quick Books.
- Experience in program management, fundraising and marketing.
- Knowledge of tourism trends and emerging associated technologies.
- Professional experience as an executive or mid-level executive in a business-related field or other leadership position, including supervision of professional staff and oversight of finance.
