The Company

Parkwood LLC is a private financial services company based in Cleveland, Ohio. Parkwood and its wholly-owned subsidiary, the Parkwood Trust Company, serve the interest of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel families, their associated trusts, partnerships, foundations, and other entities. Parkwood and the Parkwood Trust Company offer a full array of trust company services including investment management, trust administration, charitable planning, multi-generational tax and estate planning, accounting, tax return preparation, assistance with legal matters, and other professional services.

The Investment Department

The Parkwood Investment Department is a team of peers with a common goal: to find, partner with, and learn from the best investors around the world in order to allocate Parkwood’s capital to the most compelling public and private investment opportunities. Much of our assets are invested with outside managers with expertise in their respective areas. The balance of the portfolio is managed internally. We invest globally across a variety of strategies including public equity, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and natural resources. 

Parkwood has a stable asset base and a long-term investment horizon, which allows us to take advantage of the returns available from attractive, but less liquid investments. 

As a member of our investment team, you will spend your time analyzing, engaging with, and learning from the most elite investors in the world across all asset classes. This provides a unique opportunity to see a broad array of investment ideas while also going in-depth on individual investment opportunities including private equity co-investments and other idiosyncratic opportunities. All members of the investment team are expected to develop and express independent opinions, regardless of experience or tenure.

Responsibilities

·       Team members have the latitude to tackle the complexity of investment management as they see fit. Investment team members are encouraged to think extensively about the best ways to support Parkwood’s mission.

·       Traveling, learning new business models, developing proposals, and debating investment opportunities

·       Proactively sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities

·       Evaluating and monitoring outside asset managers

·       Building relationships with managers in asset classes ranging from public equities and fixed income to alternatives such as private equity and real estate

·       Analyzing current market conditions and supporting asset allocation decisions and portfolio construction

·       Performing research on issues relevant for a global institutional portfolio, including researching new investment ideas and themes

·       Synthesizing information and making coherent and reasoned investment recommendations

Specific Work Experience and Background Desired

·      Bachelor’s Degree

·      Demonstrable knowledge of investment concepts

·      Investment or industry experience

·      An advanced degree and/or CFA designation are a plus
