Registered Nurse (PRN)

Partners in Abortion Care is an all-trimester abortion clinic located in College Park, Maryland. Purpose:

Partners in Abortion Care is seeking a PRN registered nurse who understands the complicated intersections of a patient’s life and experiences that may lead to having an abortion. The ideal candidate for this position is compassionate, pro-choice, patient, and excited to be part of a new, rapidly growing, and fast-paced organization.

The anticipated schedule of this position is primarily Tuesday to Friday with some Mondays for meetings and staff training. Applicants must be available for at least one week of on-call per month.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assessment of patients before, during, and after abortion procedures
• Dispensing medications, P.O. IV, Sublingual
• Familiarity with EHR systems
• Obtaining complete medical health history from all patients
• Providing IV sedation under the direction of the Medical Director
• Setting up and breaking down procedures rooms as needed
• Delegation of responsibilities to other health care professionals, i.e., medical assistants
• Follow-up contact with patients after their procedure
• Obtaining vital signs
• Blood draws and IV line placement
• Assisting physicians in the care of patients
• Quality assurance and improvement projects as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Active registered nurse license in Maryland or compact license
• Previous outpatient OB/GYN experience, preferred
• Minimal 2 years experience as a registered nurse required
• BLS & ACLS required
• Second language proficiency, preferred
• Experience working directly with midwives/advanced practice nurses
• Experience with trauma-informed care preferred
• Experience with IV sedation, preferred
• Experience with ultrasonography, preferred

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods of time.
