Position Purpose:
Carries and presents food and beverages to all guests, assists in pre-bussing, stocks, maintains, and cleans the service line(s) and drink station(s), demonstrates complete knowledge of the dishes and beverages being served.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promptly deliver prepared food and beverage items to guest tables.
- Learn, understand, and practice all fine dining serving standards when serving and clearing items.
- Assist with prebussing tables and clearing finished items when needed.
- Communicate with guests regarding each item delivered, describe the dishes and beverages being served, relay guest requests to server or manager when received.
- Stock, clean, and maintain service areas.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
- Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard restaurant cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Polishing flatware and glasses for all meal periods throughout the day to maintain an adequate supply.
- Performs all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking service areas.
- Performs other duties as requested, such as cleaning up unexpected spills, handling special guest requests, greeting and seating guests and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Attend all required meetings.
Qualifications
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Knowledge of all menu items and ability to describe them to guests.
- Ability to understand and communicate English to comprehend and respond to basic guest requests. Ability to understand written English to read any caution or safety notes.
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, transport up to 50 lbs. through a crowded room.
- Ability to balance and carry full service trays and use a tray jack.
- Ability to move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200 lbs.
