About Us:
Patch is a modern children’s thrift boutique committed to offering high-quality, affordable clothing and gear for families. We buy outright from our community and thoughtfully select every item that goes on our racks. As we grow, we’re looking for an Assistant Buyer to help us sort, price, and curate inventory that reflects our brand and standards. You will be working directly along side of the owner.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Buyer supports the buying process by evaluating incoming items, researching resale values, pricing merchandise, and ensuring that only the best items make it to our sales floor. This role requires a strong eye for detail, familiarity with children’s brands, and the ability to make fair and informed decisions quickly. You will be asked to perform a series of tests for this position. This job has endless opportunity to grow with the business, serious inquires only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the intake and evaluation of secondhand children’s items (clothing, shoes, and gear)
- Apply our store’s payout structure to determine appropriate cash offers
- Price inventory based on brand, condition, demand, and resale value
- Stay current on trends in children’s fashion and resale
- Help maintain organized records of purchased inventory
- Communicate clearly and professionally with sellers during the intake process
- Support general shop operations as needed
Qualifications:
- Prior retail, resale, or buying experience preferred - must show proof of concepts
- Strong knowledge of children’s brands and products
- Ability to assess quality, spot damage, and grade condition quickly and accurately
- Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude
Bonus Skills:
- Experience using Excel, Sheets, Shopify or POS systems
- Knowledge of resale pricing strategies or fashion trends
- Familiarity with sustainability or zero-waste practices
