What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Mentor - You Can Be A Mentor By Being Yourself! position at Pathfinders?
Community-based partnership of volunteer mentors from faith-based organizations, civic groups and businesses helping families and individuals along the path to self-sufficiency. Mentors are trained and matched with a family or an individual in their community for one year.
,
The Mentoring program assists people struggling to become stable and independent, including single working mothers, veterans, and men and women reentering the community after incarceration. The Mentoring program recruits people who are motivated to make changes in their lives. We match them with an individual mentor or team of mentors who build a relationship with the family or individual and serve as a support system through encouragement, personal support, and life skills guidance. Each mentor provides a broad range of support including budgeting, job preparation, decision making, emotional support, spiritual support, parenting and goal setting. As the relationship develops, the activities are determined by the mentor and the mentee. The mentoring schedule is flexible, and the mentor and mentee set their own meeting times. A Pathfinders staff member is part of the mentoring relationship, so the mentors and mentees have the support of the staff member throughout the one year mentorship. This is not a program of financial support, but rather an opportunity to provide personal support to an individual in need.
To volunteer, contact Pathfinders at 817-731-1173 or info@pathfinderstc.org.
