What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Monitor position at Pathways for Children, Inc.?

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young children and their families?  Do you want to feel like you have accomplished something wonderful at the end of the day?  At Pathways we nurture young children and support families impacted by economic and social inequity through programs that educate, enrich, empower and motivate.  We are looking to hire a Bus Monitor to supervise children and ensure safety during morning and afternoon bus routes.  The ideal candidate has experience with young children.

25 hours a week 52 weeks per year-split shift located in Gloucester MA 

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A BUS MONITOR?

  • Maintain an orderly and safe environment for all children on the bus
  • Assist with the buckling of all children and that they remain seated and buckled while bus is in motion
  • Practice safe loading and unloading procedures
  • Monitor behavior of students and provide interactive supports when needed
  • Assist and direct children in an emergency situation which could result in an evacuation

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE A BUS MONITOR?

  • Must be able to access reliable transportation and travel between Pathways centers in Salem, Beverly and Gloucester
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, sit for extended periods, cover moderate distances
  • Complete and pass yearly physical with DOT certified physician; over 70 years of age must 2 physicals per calendar year and proof of immunizations
  • Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Maintain a clean driving record; checked annually
  • Maintain licensor background check requirements
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Proficient computer skills are required
