Responsibilities

Job Purpose

This position will have responsibility for analyzing and maintaining real estate agreements and related services contracts in support of Pattern Energy's wind energy development business. This role is a 6 month contract role with a possibility for extension.

Key Accountabilities

* Responsible for managing existing, and entering new, Land record obligations in the Land system;
* Accurately calculate, identify correct payees, and timely request payments;
* Follow control processes and protocols;
* Liaise with landowners regarding change in title / ownership. Obtain and store change documentation. Timely modify Land records of material changes;
* Prepare and send periodic landowner payment statements;
* Respond to Land payment inquiries from Accounting, Finance, Asset Management, etc.;
* Liaise with Development and Legal to identify agreements that should be terminated or extended. Follow-through with Legal to ensure appropriate documentation is timely prepared to preserve, or terminate, Land rights;
* Create and maintain annual Commitment schedules;
* Timely notify Finance Team of payments that require draw funding;
* Maintain physical files;
* Resolve stale checks;
* Create and maintain landowner contact information schedules;
* Attend landowner meetings and events. Assist with preparation, set-up and tear-down.
* Special projects, as required.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree or significant Land experience

Required Work Experience

* Minimum 10 years Energy Sector Land experience, a portion of which must have been spent maintaining Land records.
* Strong grasp of real estate contract terms and conditions with the ability to summarize them accurately into Land system.
* Have the experience to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with landowners, co-workers in various groups, including Legal, Accounting, Operations and Business Development.

Additional Requirements

* Be willing to pitch in and do additional work as closings and high activity periods arise.
* Establish and maintain such databases as arise within the small company environment, so that critical action items can be monitored.
* Strong MS Excel skillset - (i.e. pivot tables, etc.)
