We are a thriving Internal Medicine Practice located in Semoran who seeks a qualified, dynamic Healthcare Professional like you!

We are looking for an eager and experienced Medical Assistant who can fill our position for phone triage and processing prior authorizations.

The position requires the ability to work under pressure on multiple tasks with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

SKILLS:

  • 1 years of experience doing telephone triage and address patient medical questions accordingly.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and ability to triage complex patients with many co-morbidities.
  • Proactive with good organizational skills and ability to bring issues to closure and manage competing priorities and tasks.
  • Triages and responds to patient communications in a timely manner, usually on the same day or within 24 hours.
  • Triages patient correspondence received by phone, voicemail or patient portal in adherence to policy. Documents patient correspondence into EMR system and advises patient & provider plan of action.
  • Performs medication prior authorizations as necessary.
  • Reconciles patient health history information at visit, updates any additional information pertinent to patient care and scans various documentation into EMR. Such documentation includes hospital discharge information, disability forms, laboratory test requests, medical clearances or any other correspondence as directed after obtaining provider signature.
  • Communications Skills- ability to interact with patients in a professional manner and able to discuss patient information confidentially.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a high patient volume setting.
  • Must be currently registered or certified as a medical assistant.
  • Proficiency in use of electronic medical records (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all written and verbal communications.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend and complete assigned tasks furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to identify resolutions to problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Ability to identify and proactively solve issues.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and record test results.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, co-workers, and the public.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work with electric medical record technology as a primary means.
  • Knowledge of medical practice operations and patient care standards.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures if needed.
  • Ability to take vital signs, if applicable.
  • Ability to develop and maintain clinical quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work with electric medical record technology as a primary means documentation.
  • Proficiency in the operation of a computer keyboard.
  • Creates, maintains, copies/scans and files patient encounters, records, and other documents as required and necessary in the electronic patient record.
  • Responsible for abiding by the Standards of Conduct and meeting all compliance and other training requirements.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Treats co-workers, medical providers, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect always.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and Licensed
  • Three years medical office experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
