What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Technician position at PCE, Inc?
SUMMARY: Responsible for setting up production equipment. Must check all machine settings so the final product will be in compliance with the product specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform tests on molds to develop a robust process or evaluate the process/tool
Conduct process testing per the RJG methodology
Troubleshoot process issues under the direction of the Master Molder/Engineering
Maintain integrity of the process documentation (Machine Settings forms, press programs)
Actively participate in reviews of tooling and processes
Create work instructions as required for specific molds (ie. Prefill threaded cap)
Provide training on mold installation and press start-up
Provide FAI samples to engineering/QA to qualify new tools or process changes
Remove and put tool away in proper location
Install new tool using established procedures.
Perform general housekeeping around work area.
Perform minor machine maintenance as needed.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Responsible for product change over in all production equipment.
Adjust machines and settings to maximize cycle time and produce acceptable products.
Recommend new or changed methods and equipment to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and lift up to 65 pounds for long periods of time.
Can involve a dirty, greasy, noisy environment.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Attention to detail
Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, engineering drawings and company policies.
Ability to perform simple math problems such as weight conversion, multiplication and division.
Good communication skills
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
2 year degree in Plastics Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or similar field of study. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
7+ years experience in installation of molds and establishing mold processes.
Master Molder certification through RJG or equivalent (AIM Institute, etc.) preferred.
