Here's how a Contracts Manager for our California Buildings district located in Glendale, CA will contribute to our team:
Responsibilities
- Assists Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk, in providing guidance and expertise on contracts/subcontracts, including interpretation of contract/subcontract documents, and negotiating subcontract changes.
- Assists in preparation and review of contract documents as required, including interim agreements, memorandum of understanding (MOUs), Design Agreements, and joint venture agreements, where PCL has responsibility to draft agreements.
- Assists manager, Finance and Commercial Risk, with the review of bid documents to ensure that risks and opportunities are identified, communicated, and managed effectively.
- Coordinates resolution of disputes and helps when resolving contract disputes, as required.
- Reviews contracts after execution to ensure that all documents are signed and sealed appropriately and sent to owner for execution.
- Reviews and approves all subcontracts, POs, and revisions on behalf of the manager, Finance and Commercial Risk, to ensure that proper templates, terms, and conditions are used, and all additional clauses as required are included.
- Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Business, Law, Engineering or a related discipline
- 8 years of progressive experience with direct project administration in the construction or related industry with 2 years of exposure to risk management and legal issues preferred. On-site project experience is an asset.
- Understands and complies with all labor agreements, government legislation, and PCL policies and procedures. Intermediate ability to draft/review and negotiate various forms of contract language, as required.
- Intermediate knowledge of bid and contract securities and insurance as they relate to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting.
- Intermediate risk interpretation, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking to ensure PCL interests are protected in all contractual and subcontract agreements.
- Intermediate knowledge of contract/construction law in relation to tender documents and project contracts.
- Understanding of the commercial terms of the contract and the district/corporate management reports.
- Expert understanding of subcontract PO terms.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
