Position Summary
This position is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the transmission system.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure the electric transmission system meets demand while maintaining system parameters such as frequency, line flows and transmission-level voltage within prescribed limitsRestore service (through SCADA and dispatch of field personnel) to transmission and substation facilities to reduce customer outage time and restore system integrityCoordinate complex switching activities with other utilities to make certain safety and reliability are upheldEnsure appropriate communications on all transmission eventsReview all written logs pertaining to daily events to ensure proper logging and readabilityEnsure proper documentation is completed to meet all regulatory requirements including but not limited to ERCOT and NERCMonitor and report all communication problems on RTU's and the EMS to ensure vital communications are available for normal and emergency operationsUtilizes one-line diagrams as a tool in writing and checking switching ordersMaintains working knowledge of all System Operations procedures, manuals, handbooks, plans and technology systemsMaintains NERC Certification (at the Transmission Operator level) to assure understanding of NERC policies and to meet NERC requirementsProvide recommendations to System Operations management on operating procedures, EMS enhancements, and training topics to improve processes and proceduresMonitor weather conditions to ensure PEC system operations readiness during adverse weather conditionsMaintain working knowledge of Real-Time Contingency Analysis (RTCA) and State Estimator tools and applicationsDetermine necessity to shed firm load during ERCOT Energy Emergency Alert (EEA) event, or any events where shedding firm load is necessary to maintain the integrity of the transmission grid and / or for the safety of personnel and equipmentAnalyze system voltage and performs daily / night and weekend load flow approvals for unplanned outagesMaintain the security of confidential informationStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assignedSupervisory and / or Leadership Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
