About the Position:
The function of a coach is to properly educate students through participation in interscholastic competition. The interscholastic program is designed to enhance academic achievement and should never interfere with opportunities for academic success. In recognition of this, the following are some of the responsibilities for this position:
- The coach is accountable for the culture of the team and conduct of any of the assistant coaches, players, team officials, and team-affiliated spectators.
- Work within the basic framework and philosophy of the varsity head coach.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Adhere to injury procedures established by the Pelham High School Athletic Department.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Have the total athletic and school program at interest. Be supportive of student participation in other school activities and communicate with colleagues regarding expectations in and out of season.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior high school coaching experience and/or college playing experience.
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- NFHS Certification
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of NHIAA rules
- Demonstrated ability to instruct, lead and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
What We Offer:
This is a seasonal, part-time poisition paid by a stipend. Stipends are paid twice per season-mid-way and at the conclusion of the season. This role does not qualify for benefits.
