Job Summary:
Commercial sales consultants are responsible for generating business by leveraging/creating business development opportunities with architectural firms, building owners, construction managers, and general contractors that fit our products and services. This position displays exceptional customer service and professionalism through clear communication, extensive product knowledge, efficient quoting of small and large projects, and strong organizational skills.
Schedule and Availability:
- Weekdays during normal business hours from 8am to 5pm
- Additional hours outside of business hours as necessary to ensure a successful sales cycle
- Some event attendance as required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Devote over 50% of the time to prospecting and securing new business by influencing the needs of builders, contractors, architects, and trade organizations
- Represent the brand at various networking events within the industry to promote Pella products for specification in building plans
- Develop long standing partnerships and generate growth within existing accounts
- Achieve sales goals using a solution based selling approach and market expertise
- Partner with customers to recommend and provide quotes on the appropriate products and solutions that help them grow their business
- Strategically manage complex and lengthy sales cycles
- Utilize electronic systems and software to quote products and manage business
- Partner with the Commercial Operations team and Architectural Consultant to ensure success of projects
- Strive for 100% “Very Satisfied” business partners via exemplary customer service
- Estimate project performing take-offs on plans and analyzing bid documents
- Must possess a valid Driver’s license to operate a fleet vehicle
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of construction industry
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects and customer accounts at once
- Ability to manage complex sales cycles from initial appointment to completion
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University; or 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training including commercial sales/technical product expertise; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two to four years of sales experience required
- Commercial construction industry experience strongly preferred
Mathematical and Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to put together accurate proposals
- Ability to understand customer needs and offer appropriate solutions
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and understand fractions
Computer Skills:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft suite
- Must be familiar with smart devices
- Ability to learn and utilize proprietary Pella software programs and applications and other business critical applications
Communication Skills:
- Ability to provide clear communication with customers via emails, telephone calls, and/or text messages in a timely manner
- Ability to verbally present information and respond to questions from customers, managers, and the public
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, type or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, or crouch
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily conducted at in an office setting
- Visits to customer jobsites as needed
- The noise level for this position is usually moderate
